Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What were those directions to Norrie & the Diamond J again?

      From the Aspen Airport

      1. Exit the airport, and turn left on to CO-82, North
      2. Take CO-82 for 13.8 miles,
      3. Turn right onto Two Rivers Road (into Basalt)
      4. Turn right onto Midland (this is at a four way light, there will be a park with a train caboose and the Basalt Public Library in front of you)
      5. Midland merges right into Frying Pan Road (you will pass by the library on your left and a grocery store & gas station on your right.
        NOTE: This is the last gas station you will pass. Fill up here!
      6. Follow Frying Pan Road for 25 miles (aren’t you glad you got gas back in Basalt?), past the Ruedi Reservoir, Meredith, and Thomasville. The entrance to the Diamond J is across a short wooden bridge over the Fryingpan River.
      7. The entrance to Norrie is just another mile down Frying Pan Road, on your right. It’s a down a dirt road that passes under a wooden sign with a sign that reads “Norrie Colony.”

      From I-70 East (Denver)

      1. Take I-70 East to exit 116, for Glenwood Springs/Aspen/CO-82 E
      2. You will make two pretty quick turns (less than 500’) left on North River Drive, and then right onto 6th Street
      3. Then turn right onto Grand Ave., after 1.4 miles this will become South Glen.
      4. This will merge into CO-82, which you will follow for about 17 miles, through the town El Jebel (pronounced L jah-Bell for you folks from SoCal) and past Mount Sopris, which is amazingly beautiful. It’s that big snow capped thing off to your right.
      5. When you approach Basalt, you will Turn left onto Old Co-82/Two Rivers Road (this is at a four way stop light )
      6. Turn left onto Midland (this is also at a four way light, there will be a park on your left with a train caboose and the Basalt Public Library)

  2. Is there parking at Norrie?
      There is, but in order to avoid congestion around our neighbor’s cabins we ask that folks park down by the barn near the entrance (there will be signs). There will be limited parking closer to the cabins, for those with who may have some trouble walking.
      Please let us know in advance if you need parking closer to the site.

      The ceremony is going to be at 4 o’clock, on Saturday the 16th of August. There will also be a pre-wedding bbq on at Norrie on the 15th.
  4. What is the purpose of this blog?
      To provide you with up to the minute information on our wedding.
  5. How often will the blog be updated?
      Well, we did just say that it is up to the minute. Actually, the blog will be updated whenever we get information that we think you might be interested in. It is best to subscribe to the blog using the RSS feed.
  6. What is this…R S S that you speak of, and what do I feed it?
      It stands for Really Simple Syndication. Think of it as an easy way to be notified whenever we add something to this site. You don’t feed it. It feeds you.
  7. Are children welcome at the wedding?
      Yes! Both of us would like to see a bunch of kids, and hope to have many participate in the actual ceremony. There will be more information later in the blog on kid-related issues.
  8. What do I do if I have a question, or am worried about something, related to the wedding?
      Contact either Bill or Andrea. They have already spent a good deal of time hashing out some of the possible issues with this whole “long distance destination wedding” thing. Besides, if you have a concern it is likely others will as well. Letting Bill & Andrea know about it will let them address the issue on the blog, where others might benefit from the answer.
