What should I pack? Where am I going?

We’ve gotten these questions from a couple people so here’s our answer:

Definitely want

  • Clothing
    • For hiking/muckng around
    • For the partay itself (we’re pretty casual, not jeans casual, but casual)
    • A jacket or sweater to keep warm in – lows will be in the 40s at night
  • Bug spray – you don’t want no nasty West Nile virus, do you?
  • Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and/or a parasol – remember, if you live at sea level, you will be approximately 8,500 feet closer to the sun
  • Shoes you can wear on the grass (no stilettos please), and hiking boots/good trainers if you want to hike
  • A good appetite, but seeing as we’re going to be up so high that’s shouldn’t be a problem for most of you.

Might want

  • Bathing suit for the hot springs
  • Fishing gear (make sure to pick up a lisence from the general store in Meridith) Norrie is on one of the nation’s best rainbow trout fly fishing rivers.
  • A party hat

Where am I going?

  • In case you don’t have the directions to Norrie, and the Diamond J, from the invitation handy we thought it would be a good idea to post them here. You can find them here, in the FAQ page.
  • If you use Google maps, and it tells you to go over Eagle Pass do not do it. Not only is it a rough, impassable when wet, dirt road – as of last night it’s reported to still have 12′ of snow! They have not plowed it yet since the winter, for fear of avalanche. The directions in the FAQ are quick, safe, and don’t require a humvee with plow. Take them.
  • Fill your car, no matter what the price may be, before leaving Glenwood or Basalt. The last chance you will have to get gas will be in Basalt. It’s a 53 mile round trip from Basalt to Norrie and back again. Plan acordingly.

It’s just under 2 weeks until Bill and I leave so if you have any other questions please write or call ASAP and we’ll help you out.
